Sandinista!

On a recent trip to the record shop, the Uncut magazine by the register was irresistible. The cover story was about the Clash and the making of Sandinista! My favorite bit was how drummer Topper Headon would leave the studio between takes so he could watch Tony Thompson record with Chic in the studio next door. The article helped me listen to some classic Clash tracks with fresh ears. While Sandinista! had its duds, there were many gems as well. And I remember how the vinyl had hand-written messages between the grooves after the last track on each side.
