Franck Amsallem

Last weekend we saw Franck Amsallem play at Pianoforte. Amsallem is an accomplished player who had the misfortune of playing the Jazz Salon show after Tommy Muellner, whom Maria and I both absolutely loved. His playing reminded me somewhat of Jean-Michel Pilc. He played a few standards and twisted the rhythms around to make them his own. It was a fine show, a very good show, but Muellner was a tough act to follow.
